Cartomancy - divination through playing cards by Edward McNaught-Davis
You have heard of the “Tarot”, most probably, as well as other card publications such as Angel Cards, Psi Cards, Trust Your Vibes cards, The Phoenix Cards etc., and all are a valid means of divination.
Long before people used to play games, playing cards were used for divinatory and fortune telling purposes; in fact, it is understood that they were invented for this purpose.
There is plenty of useful information available on how to perform Cartomancy either through book stores or via the internet. Once you have learned the basics and have tried out a few sessions of defined card formations (known as “spreads”) yourself, you might like to invent your own spreads for any particular purpose.
A simple spread might involve just three cards where the first is labelled as “the past”, the second as “the present” and the third as “the future” to support any question you wish to ask the cards. If you are a novice it is better to only ask questions about your own life rather than other peoples’ so that you can learn through setting yourself up as the sole guinea-pig.
Some Cartomancy users are very specific in the way that they shuffle and cut the card deck; some may shuffle the full pack of 52 cards seven times and then take the top three cards to represent the past, present and future to query a certain situation or event. Others, after shuffling, may fan the cards out, onto a table, face down and pick their cards seemingly at random or they may be inspired to choose their cards. All sorts of variations are possible and valid providing you agree with yourself the procedure to be adopted from the outset and you maintain that discipline.
Like with most things, the more you practice then the more accurate you will become in predicting future events or learning about past events.
Interesting Notes About standard “Playing Cards”.
There are thirteen cards in each of the four suits, corresponding to the 13 lunar months in a year. Fifty-two cards correspond to fifty-two weeks in a year.
Hearts denote the element of water, and signify love, friendship, happiness, and domestic concerns. Generally speaking, they are "happy" cards.
Clubs answer to the element of fire, and generally define business, ambition, and achievement issues. They generally indicate success and happiness.
Diamonds equate to the element of earth, and generally denote career, and money issues.
Spades correspond to the element of air, and generally indicate gossip, challenges, messages, and upsets.
