Dowsing - with rods and a pendulum.
Historians believe that dowsing dates back to at least 6000 BC as supported by a cave painting found in the Sahara Desert, which shows a picture of a man holding a forked stick, just like a modern water diviner would do. Water isn’t the only product that dowsers search for though. The technique can be used to locate anything hidden from sight whether under the earth or hidden away elsewhere. Oil companies use dowsers to search for likely oil fields and some armies will use them to search for mines and other explosives. Some traditionalists will use pliable forked twigs as their dowsing rod and typically the best varieties come from Hazel, Beech, Apple, Privet, Birch and Willow trees. The forked twig should look like a “Y” and you should hold each smaller prong in each hand with the longer stem pointing outwards and parallel to the ground. You can fashion a cheap wire coat hanger into a dowsing rod too or you can buy special dowsing rods fashioned into an “L” shape. Similarly, you can make your own pendulum with a length of string (about six inches long) and tie a weighted object to one end such as a key or a ring. Although dowsing is traditionally performed to find lost objects, treasure, minerals, etc., it can be used to predict future events with extreme accuracy or it can be used to answer questions where the response is normally given off by a “yes”, “no” or “maybe” answer. From experience, I have found that the rods are better when applied to search for lost objects and energy field locations whereas the pendulum is better suited for prediction and answering specific questions. Dowsing works best if you are totally relaxed and you do not have any pre-determined idea on any outcome as there tends to be a fine line between influencing the rod or pendulum consciously or subconsciously. It is the latter condition that is required.

Welcome to the third edition of this newsletter.
My original intention was to get this newsletter out at the beginning of this year but I’ve been rushed off my feet with many new initiatives on both the spiritual and art sides of my business life. So here I am a few months late!

What’s New on Check Your Spiritual Pathway?
I’ve won several new clients this year many of whom have given me repeat business so I guess I must be doing something right! I’ve had enquiries from all over the World too with the furthest from an Australian psychiatrist who required some insight into Spiritual matters to help one of her patients. Also, I have painted pictures of clients’ spiritual pathways and their spiritual guides too of which one is shown here. Recent readings involved helping a client to locate lost articles in an European country and another helped to determine whether a certain UK property would be suitable for a client bearing in mind his needs and intentions.
Psychometry - what does it mean?
The term “Psychometry” is believed to have been first used and promoted by the mid-nineteenth century American psychologist, Joseph R. Buchanan. The term is used to describe hidden “vibrations” contained in physical objects.
These vibrations can be read by mediums and psychics to tell a particular history about each object and the things and people associated with them.
Typical objects include personal items such as rings, watches, cigarette lighters, pens etc., whereas non personal objects such as public seating can also be read regarding the last few people (and animals) to have sat in a particular seat, for example.
It is as though people and animals are leaving a snapshot imprint about themselves which is then captured by the object for a period of time. Generally, the personal snapshot is fuelled by a high emotional state which could be a happy one or an unhappy one. The latter seems to be more common than the former.
The delivery of information for any object or thing being read depends upon the speciality of the medium or psychic. Some will receive apt visions through clairvoyance whereas others may receive knowledge through worded thought and vision. Information may be channeled from the Spirit World too.
The practice of Psychometry sounds fun to do and often it is but like with all things, there needs to be a balance. On occasions the “sensitive” person reading an object may “see” or “pick up” derogatory information regarding a previous event that has been entombed within the object. As an example, research has shown that visions supporting how a previous owner of the object being read, had died whether through natural causes or through an exterior influence such as an unlawful killing. Often in these cases, the psychic will feel the physical symptoms that caused death which is often an unpleasant sensation. Although rare, the medium or psychic may be influenced greatly by these unpleasant sensations and he/she may need to be rescued by another psychic or medium trained in such “rescue” techniques.
Cartomancy - divination through playing cards.
You have heard of the “Tarot”, most probably, as well as other card publications such as Angel Cards, Psi Cards, Trust Your Vibes cards, The Phoenix Cards etc., and all are a valid means of divination.
Long before people used to play games, playing cards were used for divinatory purposes; in fact, it is understood that they were invented for this purpose.
There is plenty of useful information available on how to perform Cartomancy either through book stores or via the internet. Once you have learned the basics and have tried out a few sessions (known as “spreads”) yourself, you might like to invent your own spreads for any particular purpose.
A simple spread might involve just three cards where the first is labelled as “the past”, the second as “the present” and the third as “the future” to support any question you wish to ask the cards. If you are a novice it is better to only ask questions about your own life rather than other peoples’ so that you can learn through setting yourself up as the sole guinea-pig.
Some Cartomancy users are very specific in the way that they shuffle and cut the card deck; some may shuffle the full pack of 52 cards seven times and then take the top three cards to represent the past, present and future to query a certain situation or event. Others after shuffling may fan the cards out onto a table face down and pick their cards seemingly at random or they may be inspired to choose their cards. All sorts of variations are possible and valid providing you agree with yourself the procedure to be adopted from the outset and you maintain that discipline.
Like with most things, the more you practice then the more accurate you will become in predicting future events or learning about past events.
Interesting Notes About Playing Cards
There are thirteen cards in each of the four suits, corresponding to the 13 lunar months in a year. Fifty-two cards correspond to fifty-two weeks in a year.
Hearts denote the element of water, and signify love, friendship, happiness, and domestic concerns. Generally speaking, they are "happy" cards.
Clubs answer to the element of fire, and generally define business, ambition, and achievement issues. They generally indicate success and happiness.
Diamonds equate to the element of earth, and generally denote career, and money issues.
Spades correspond to the element of air, and generally indicate gossip, challenges, messages, and upsets.
