Runes - What are they?

The “Runes” were an ancient Norse and Germanic Alphabet which was based on magic symbols. The runes were used to predict future events, to heal, to control the weather and for many other purposes and mostly to do with invoking change. The original Runic System in about the 1st Century AD comprised a series of small wooden tablets (the Norse Rune Masters would have used wood from a fruit tree), blank on one side and inscribed with a Runic symbol on the other.  The inscriptions were burnt into the wood. In later centuries pebbles were used as the Rune base as well as bronze, copper and gold disks. Later on the Runic symbols were etched into sword blades in an attempt to make its user more of a warrior. Similarly, they were also inscribed on amulets and pieces of jewellery to support love predictions or to attract  prosperity, love and happiness. The Rune system of prediction was at its height during the Dark Ages and many different variations were used throughout Europe, Britain and Russia. The Vikings were responsible for its introduction. The Britannic version comprised 24 symbols divided into three groups of eight. Each group was named after the Norse deities; Freya, Hagal and Tiu. Some specialist New Age shops will most likely sell you a Rune set (and probably made out of plastic too) but you could easily make your own with either card or beach pebbles. A search on Google will most probably help to find instructions for using Runes as well as the symbols to inscribe on your chosen material. Similarly, the larger bookshops will have books about Runes as well as how to make and use them.

What’s New on Check Your Spiritual Pathway?

Much has happened over the last 6 months. In addition to doing many psychic readings by email, I have done quite a few face-to-face readings with local clients. Also, I have done much hands-on and remote spiritual healing for those that needed it, as well as on some farm and domestic animals. I have been studying and using healing crystals to offer alternative methods of healing people. Recently I was attuned to Reiki 1 and I can now combine these energies with my spiritual energies to produce very strong positive results. Reiki can be used to boost the natural energy properties of healing crystals and to programme clear Quartz crystals to do whatever you want them to do.

Understanding Tasseography (reading tea leaves).

Tasseography really means “reading tea cups” and generally applies these days to either reading tea leaves or reading coffee grounds. It is believed to have originated from ancient China when the people then used to read the inner markings of bells for divinatory purposes. In ancient times, Chinese teacups had no handles and when inverted they looked very similar to bells. Any tea cup with sloping sides can be used as well as any liquid drink too providing the liquid leaves a residue of some sort on the bottom and sides of the drinking vessel. The markings left by the residue are interpreted by considering the patterns made and generally purport to the drinker’s future. The method used for either reading tea leaves or coffee grounds is well established. The traditional method of preparation is to use unstrained tea or coffee. After the tea or coffee drinker has finished drinking nearly all of his/her beverage, the residue is swirled clockwise around the cup three times so that the residual grounds disperse over the bottom and right up the sides of the cup in a scattering of symbols. The cup is then inverted and placed on either a saucer or a plate to allow any surplus liquid to drain away up to the traditional count of seven. As a modern cup will no doubt have a handle, the reader will turn the cup the right way up and with the handle facing him or her. The handle generally represents the inquirer. Events in the past are shown to the left of the handle while future events are shown to the right of the handle. The inner length of the cup is divided into three imaginary sections; the inner top of the cup represents the present or very near future while the middle section represents more distant time and the bottom of the cup is considered as an unlucky area and indicates ill fortune. The tea leaves or coffee grounds stuck to the sides or on the bottom of the cup will form various patterns or symbols. Some may take on an obvious shape. It is important to take into account all shapes and symbols and not to interpret any particular one in isolation to another. The key to doing a reading of this type is to allow your imagination to roam freely while taking into account the sizes, proportions, positions and clarity of the symbols left by the tea leaf or coffee ground residue. An easy way to practice interpreting shapes into meaningful symbols is to look at clouds in the sky and consider the possibilities for those; this will help to train your mind to see the not so obvious recognition of everyday objects, things, people, animals, plants, buildings, vessels, etc.,

Marvel at Scrying with a Crystal Ball.

Scrying” is a traditional method of divination using a crystal ball, glass ball, shiny stone, mirror, bowl or glass of water or other reflective object or surface. The scryer will focus on the chosen reflective surface until clairvoyant visions appear in order to answer questions or to solve problems or crimes or to locate lost objects or indeed people. The chosen reflective surface tool of scryers is known as a speculum. The crystal ball is often associated with Gypsy Fortune Tellers as their preferred speculum. It is generally understood that the best crystal balls are four inches (or about 10 centimetres) in diameter and are fashioned from either Beryl or Quartz crystal. These are extremely expensive to buy and many will cost hundreds of pounds. An alternative is to use a glass sphere specially made for the same purpose as these are somewhat cheaper to produce and purchase and the results are virtually identical. When choosing a crystal or glass ball, it is best to ensure that it is free of any bubbles, blemishes or other markings to prevent any distractions. Care of your crystal or glass ball is considered to be of paramount importance too. When not in use they should be wrapped up in a soft velvet cloth or bag. Equally as important is to disallow anyone from touching or handling your chosen speculum. Using a crystal or glass ball or any other type of speculum is not at all easy. It is thought that only 1 in 20 of interested people will have much success with this method of divination. Similarly, it can take several days or even weeks to train your eyes and mind to project clairvoyant images onto a speculum’s surface. Personally, I don’t see the need to use a speculum as I see clairvoyant images in my mind’s eye or they are seemingly projected just a few inches beyond my face with the outmost clarity. It is rather like having a miniature TV on the end of my nose! If you would like to attempt Scrying for yourself without any cost, then I suggest you use a clear tumbler glass of water. This should be placed on a dark or preferably black surface such as a card, cloth or mat sitting on a level table or shelf and at arm’s length from you. The room lighting should be dim and if possible it is best to do it in a natural North facing light. Once you’re ready, you should sit down and gaze at the glass of water for up to 20 minutes at a time. You will need to concentrate solely on the glass of water which will now have taken on a black appearance because of the black card or mat it is placed upon. Initially, you probably won’t see anything other than the glass of water but if you persevere by focusing solely on the glass you may start to see mystical clouds appearing and swirling within the confines of the glass and after a few minutes of undisturbed concentration. These clouds will disperse after a minute or so to reveal a clairvoyant image. Sometimes these visions will be static like a photograph and sometimes they will appear like a video film and all are usually in colour. The meaning behind the images may be channeled to you by telepathic means or you might be inspired to interpret them yourself with just a basic clue given. During your early sessions of learning to scry you will undoubtedly find it very tiring and therefore it is best to limit yourself to a maximum of 20 minutes for each session and to only commit to one session per day. After each session you will need to allow time for your eyes to readjust to their normal every day focal point.
