Psychic (Clairvoyant) Readings

The “Clair” Words by Edward McNaught-Davis

Most people have heard of the term, “Clairvoyance” and some may have heard of other similar sounding words such as “Clairsentience” and “Clairaudience” but what do these words mean?

Before I explain, there’s a need to widen the scope for there are many more words beginning with “Clair” that are used by Spiritual Psychic Mediums and other psychic practitioners. All these words are part of the psychic’ mental toolbox but not all psychics will have experienced each condition.

Many of the “Clair” words are of French origin. The term “Clairvoyance” is French and means “Clear Seeing”.

Whenever I do a Spiritual Psychic Medium reading by email for one of my clients I tend to use a mix of Clairvoyance, Clairsentience, Clairaudience and Claircognisance. On occasions I will receive Clairalience too as well as Clairsentinence.

In alphabetical order here are the “Clair” words that I know about and have experienced for myself

Clairalience means "Clear Smelling". Some spirits will excrete, through energy manipulation, a smell signature for recognition and which may be picked up by anyone and not just a medium or psychic. A spirit may, for example, manifest the smell of pipe or cigarette tobacco or their favourite perfume or after-shave. Smell signatures put out by evil entities can be very pungent and putrid and in some cases, sickening. Past events can put out smell signatures too such as a house burning or the smell of cakes being baked somewhere.

Clairaudience literally means “Clear Hearing”. It denotes the faculty of supernormal hearing from other dimensional sources or from our own plane but over vast distances such as thousands of miles. It is usually a term used to describe Mediums who have the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of spirits voices may be heard as though the Medium is listening to a person talking to them, in say, the same room or the voice may be heard within the medium’s head as a verbal telepathic communication. A person receptive to and/or knowingly practising Clairaudience is known as a “Clairaudient”.

Claircognisance translates as "Clear Knowing". It explains the ability to know something without knowing how that something is known. Mediums and psychics often claim to have the feeling that a message or situation is  either "valid" or "invalid" and if the latter, professionals will or should interrogate it further. A person who has the ability of Claircognisance is labelled as being a Claircognisant. The US spelling of Claircognisance is Claircognizance. A US practitioner would be known as a “Claircognizant”.

Clairgustance equates to "Clear Tasting". It involves receiving taste impressions from a spirit. This works closely but is not dependent upon, Clairalience sometimes a smell impression can lead to a subsequent taste impression too.

Clairsentience means, “Clear Sensing” and involves the psychic perception of the senses such as touch, taste, smell and emotions of others. A medium or psychic will receive an impression from a spirit as a form of verbal communication or to feel sensations instilled by a spirit.  Clairsentience is often coupled with Clairvoyance and Clairaudience. It is probably one of the best psychic tools to have in one’s mindset. Practitioners are referred as Clairsentients.

Clairsentinence means "Clear Feeling". This is often an unpleasant phenomena in which a Medium might temporarily inherit the ailments that a spirit suffered on the Earth plane, prior to his or her death. If the spirit suffered from say, heart problems, then a medium may pick up the same pain in their heart while communicating with that spirit. It can also occur during a healing session where both the healer and the patient/sitter are alive. The healer may at times feel the physical or mental pain suffered by his patient/sitter. The healer would then need to reinforce his spiritual protection and ensure that he/she was well grounded after the healing session had finished. This eradicates residual energies.

Clairvoyance literally means, “Clear Seeing” and involves the seeing and analysis/interpretation of waking visions using ESP. As I’m a Spiritual Medium as well as a Clairvoyant, quite often appropriate messaging is channeled to me to support the vision. A person who practices Clairvoyance is known as a Clairvoyant.
